Our Artists

Meet the creative team behind LDC!

We’re a group of artists who specialise in creating comics. We volunteer our time to coordinating events because we truly believe in the transformative power of our craft! Before we are organisers, we are part and full time artists!

If you’d like the opportunity to work with one of us, click on the profiles for more information on each volunteer.

NICOLA STREETEN

is an anthropologist-turned-illustrator and comics scholar. Her graphic memoir Billy, Me & You, published by Myriad Editions in 2011, is the first long form graphic memoir by a British woman to have been published and was awarded Highly Commended in the Popular Medicine category of the British Medical Association Medical Book Awards 2012.

WALLIS EATES

Wallis began creating autobiographical comics and has since turned her hand to collaborations. She has produced comics with prisoners, adults with dementia, amateur boxers and is currently working on ‘Like an Orange’ with Cast Iron Books - a long form graphic narrative about the brain injury survivors she met during a residency at the charity Headway. Wallis runs the 'Safe Space for Hard Stories' strand for LDC, an online reflective practice support group for autobiographical comic makers.

LANA LÈ

Lana Lê – aka woolypear – is an American illustrator who specialises in portraits, sequential art, and is based in London. Currently, she’s drawing a graphic memoir about a birthmarked war refugee. Active in her creative community, Lana organises meet-ups for the Association of Illustrators, LD Comics, and hosts Artist Chats. She also teaches drawing and facilitates craft workshops.
