Sarah Lightman steps down from LDC

Sarah Lightman is one of the founding members of LDC back in 2009, alongside Nicola Streeten.
We wish Sarah all the best in her future ventures and will miss her as part of the LDC team.

LAYDEEZ DO COMICS RESIDENCY

7-9 June 2019
Location: Lincolnshire
Cost: £170 EARLYBIRD (included accommodation, meals and activity. Travel is not included)
Join published graphic novelists and experienced practitioners from the Laydeez do Comics team: Rachael Ball, Charlotte Bailey, Lou Crosby, Wallis Eates and Nicola Streeten and special guest Corinne Pearlman, Editor in Chief at Myriad Editions for an inspiring, fun and creative weekend in the countryside.
Women only and all levels welcome.
We only have 8 places to offer. Subsidised by funding from Arts Council England, priority booking will be offered to entrants of the LDC 2018 and 2019 award. ‘LAYDEEZ LOUNGE’ 2019 TOURING SCHEDULE

The Laydeez Lounge display of all the 2019 entries to the 2019 LDC Award that was showcased at the LDC Festival will be toured around Derbyshire Libraries from July-September 2019. LDC are grateful to Derbyshire Libraries for this new partnership. LDC will run two comics workshops at Derbyshire libraries during this time. Details to follow.
DUNDEE UNIVERSITY COMICS ARCHIVE TO HOUSE ‘LAYDEEZ LOUNGE’

The Laydeez Lounge display of all entries from 2018 and 2019 will be included in the Dundee University Comics Archive, ensuring current women’s comics activity
in the UK becomes part of a documented history. We are grateful to Dundee University for this new partnership.
LAYDEEZ ONLINE MENTORING SCHEME

This piloted activity offers one-to-one online mentoring over 6 months. Launched this year as part of LDC’s Arts Council England funded activity, entrants to the award received priority notice and the initial pilot sessions are booked. To celebrate 10 years of activity, Charlotte Bailey and Nicola Streeten are starting to gather material for a publication. Your story is our story and we hope to be in touch with you in the forthcoming months. We will keep you updated.
LAYDEEZ WEEKEND FESTIVAL AND AWARDS 2020

The receipt of Arts Council England funding enables LDC to host its third Festival in 2020 and to run the Laydeez Awards 2020. The support will enable us So keep drawing! We will post news on further initiatives, dates and details in the forthcoming months.
