Description
A monthly online meet up group for autobiographical comic makers on the third Sunday of every month, 1-5 pm with breaks.
Safe Space for Hard Stories creates a buffer between the creative space of immersion and exploration, and the public realm. It is a participatory space that is held by those that attend with mutual trust and confidentiality. Stories are shared and heard. Together we navigate the various anxieties that arise with this kind of work, offering each other support. In addition to this, the regularity of the meet ups is a great opportunity to sustain a rhythm with your work. However, there is no pressure to produce – life can and does get in the way, and that’s ok!
Sessions consist of:
- Sharing updates on your projects
- Peer to peer and/or group mentoring
- A chaired discussion around a particular topic of anxiety
- Art activities to support your projects
- An invitation to set goals
- Q&A with invited guests who have published autobiographical comic material about a difficult time in their lives.
The course is ongoing and the full fee of £225 covers blocks of 6 sessions that can be then be renewed. This link allows you to pay in 2 instalments of £112.50 payable before and during the course.
If you have not attended the course before or attended one of the inductions in early 2023, then you will need to join Wallis Eates for a 30 minute 1to1 consultation/mentor session for £25 which will include a downloadable 40 minute introduction video.
