Laydeez do Comics Chicago March Meeting
Our first speaker was John Porcellino. He spoke of what he calls his “psychic punctuation” and his punk/DIY philosophy. He also performed a creator’s close reading of one of his poetic comics, “Ant Crossing.”
Our second speaker was Riva Lehrer. She discussed the ethical structure she establishes for her portrait collaborations, and showed many examples of her work.
You can hear the audio of the presentations and view small versions of the images being discussed here.

John is right: simple is hard. Everytime I revise something I've drawn, it's to take lines out, never to put more lines in. And you captures Riva's hair perfectly! Wish I'd been there but I'll be thinking about all of you this July.
